Lawrence A. Doria
Chairman of the Board

Lawrence A. Doria, Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Security Professionals Association
(ISPA) and CEO/Founder of P4 Companies, has almost 50 years in the security industry.
Larry has been in leadership roles providing the physical security operations for countless
installations and special events. In addition, he has provided executive protection for
numerous captains of industry, VIPs and celebrities throughout his esteemed career.
Larry serves as Chairman of the Board and Past President of the Illinois Security
Professionals Association (ISPA), a position he has held for over 40 years and is
CEO/Founder of P4 Companies. P4 Companies is a leader in providing protection services,
training and consulting, both nationally and internationally.

Larry is also the former CEO and President of Security Management & Investigations, and
the former President of The Security Professionals, Inc. For 32 years, he was responsible
for the continued growth and success of a multi-million-dollar security and investigation
corporation, administrating to a workforce of 1,200 security officers and 1,000 off-duty law
enforcement officers. Prior to starting P4 Companies, Larry was Chicago Area Vice-
President and Vice President of Business Development for Securitas Security Services
USA, the leader in integrated guarding services in the United States. Larry’s responsibilities
included the continued growth and successes of Securitas within the Chicagoland area.
Larry has worked tirelessly to raise the standard of the entire security industry. As
Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Security Professionals Association, Larry has
represented the organization at various state legislative and regulatory advisory meetings
affecting the security industry in Illinois.

Through Larry’s leadership, the Illinois Security Professionals Association has established
an effective relationship within the law enforcement and first responders’ community.
These alliances brought together public and private agencies, proprietary security and
safety directors, and governmental bodies to work together to improve the safety and
security of the general public.

In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Security Professionals
Association, Larry was an active member of the ASIS Law Enforcement Liaison Council as
well as the ASIS Security Services Council. He also was a co-founder and served as the
President of the Midwest Security Conference; a co-founder, former vice-president and
former advisory board member of the Illinois State Crime Commission; a former chairman
of the DuPage County Crime Commission; a contributor to the U.S. Department of Justice
Hallcrest Report II, and serves on the Illinois Association Chiefs of Police Public/Private
Liaison Committee; the Chicago BOMA Security/Preparedness Committee; and is a proud
contributing member to the National Association of Security Contractors (NASCO).

Larry is licensed by the State of Illinois as a Private Security Contractor and a Private
Detective.

Steve Vitale
Board President

Steve Vitale, serving as the President and Principal at P4 Companies, brings a wealth of expertise in strategizing integrated guarding solutions, overseeing operations, and steering sales and marketing initiatives. With a relentless commitment to excellence, Steve is driven by his dedication to offering top-tier security solutions, particularly in fostering synergistic public-private partnerships between security firms and public law enforcement. His focus on evolving security programs encompasses the development of officers, management, and technological advancements.

Boasting over a decade of experience in the security industry, Steve’s career commenced at Securitas Security Services, USA in 2012. He initially embarked on his journey as a Business Development Manager in North America, concentrating on the downtown Chicago BOMA market. His responsibilities soon expanded to include Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he diversified into various sectors beyond commercial high rises.

Steve’s adeptness in nurturing long-term client relations and spearheading a successful team selling approach led to his promotion in December 2016 to the role of Pacific Region Vice President, overseeing California and Hawaii. In this capacity, he partnered closely with the CEO, focusing on sales, technology, and operations. Managing over 15,000 frontline staff and numerous Area Vice Presidents and Business Development Managers, Steve played a pivotal role in enhancing the region’s integrated guarding program, sales leadership, and operational efficiencies, contributing to a remarkable $350 million in top-line revenue and overseeing an $800 million security portfolio.

In June 2020, Steve transitioned back to Chicago to join P4 Companies as Executive Vice President and Principal. He has been instrumental in forging partnerships within various Chicago communities, including Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Hyde Park (University of Chicago), and Evanston, as well as business districts like the West Loop and Back of the Yards. Under his guidance, P4 developed an innovative off-duty police patrol program, deploying armed, off-duty/retired law enforcement officers in marked vehicles equipped with advanced technology, all monitored by P4’s cutting-edge Security Operations Center. This initiative has significantly reduced crime frequency in patrolled areas, as evidenced by data compiled by P4’s Director of Intelligence.

The program’s success, gaining national recognition and media coverage, is a testament to Steve’s leadership and P4’s commitment to community collaboration. It showcases the efficacy of public-private partnerships in enhancing public safety and enjoys the support of law enforcement, political leaders, business heads, and residents. P4 continues to expand its reach, including new contracts in Downtown Chicago’s Business District and the West Loop.

Apart from his professional achievements, Steve is deeply involved with Strong Futures in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood, addressing the needs of young adult males who are justice-involved or face other barriers to stability. Through Strong Futures, Steve supports these individuals in gaining employment and becoming responsible members of society. He actively advocates for this program and contributes to offering these young adults opportunities within P4’s client base, including roles in security, landscaping, janitorial work, property management, and engineering.

Steve is committed to making a tangible difference in the public and private security sectors, focusing on targeted strategies, profit and loss oversight, and elevating operational quality. His track record of leading diverse professional teams to success in dynamic business environments is noteworthy. Currently, he holds positions as an Officer and President for the Illinois Security Professionals Association (ISPA) and is a board member of Catholic Charities Chicago. His dedication to values, culture, and community impact continues to shape his distinguished career.

Suzanne Monreal, CPP
President Elect

Suzanne Monreal joined Titan Security in 2020, where she leads security operations and concierge hospitality programs for commercial and residential properties across the Chicagoland area. She began her career in security in 2006 and quickly advanced into multiple leadership positions, ultimately serving as Vice President of Operations. In this capacity, she oversaw diverse property portfolios, including commercial, retail, residential, cultural, and healthcare facilities.

As Vice President at Titan, Suzanne is responsible for managing client partnerships, overseeing daily security operations, developing policies, leading fiscal planning and performance, driving new business initiatives, and fostering the professional growth of managers and employees.

Suzanne holds a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University and earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International in 2018. She serves as Vice Chair of ASIS Chicago, President-Elect of the Illinois Security Professional Association (ISPA), and is a member of the BOMA/Chicago Security Preparedness Committee. Her honors include the ISPA Security Life Saving Award (2019) and Chairman’s Award (2022). A dedicated mentor, Suzanne has championed career development initiatives through ASIS Chicago’s Women in Security and Next Gen programs.

G. Michael Verden
First Vice President

With an extensive career as a police officer, Secret Service agent, Senior Director of Security for the NBA, and security advisor, G. Michael Verden, founder and CEO of The Lake Forest Group, a strategic security consultancy company, understands how to apply security best practices to your unique setting to safeguard people, property, and assets.

Mike employs methodologies learned in a 21-year career as an agent for the United States Secret Service protecting the President, First Lady, and other heads of state and large-scale events such as the Olympics and the Super Bowl to identify vulnerabilities and implement proper risk management techniques.

Mike was a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service for 21 years and finished his career as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the Dignitary Protective Division at USSS Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This assignment allowed him to be an event coordinator for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and a security adviser to the 2003 and 2004 Super Bowls. Other assignments in Washington, D.C. were to the Presidential Protective Division responsible for protecting the President and First Lady and the Counter Assault Team. Additionally, he assisted with creating security plans for major events such as the Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby, Indianapolis 500, Breeders’ Cup, and the Women’s Soccer World Cup.

Mike is a member of the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Security Council, American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Association of Former Agents of the United States Secret Service (AFAUSSS), Illinois Security Professionals Association (ISPA) where he currently serves as the First Vice President, International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP), Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), and International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).

Mike was born in Tipperary, Ireland, grew up in Chicago, and graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Law Enforcement Administration and Indiana State University with an M.S. in Criminology. He began his professional career with the Skokie, Illinois Police Department and then became a Secret Service agent in the Chicago Field Office.

Luke Hutsell SPHR, CPP
Second Vice President

With over 29 years of management, human resources and safety experience, to include 25 years in the contract security industry, Luke brings a vast wealth of knowledge and leadership as the Regional Vice President for the Midwest Region. Luke joined Whelan Security in 2014. Prior to joining Whelan, Luke worked as an Area Vice President for Securitas Security Services, USA, building and managing a $63M region in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa – and most recently the Rocky Mountain Region based in Denver.

Currently employed with GardaWorld as the Regional Vice President- Midwest, Luke manages 13 States in the central United States with offices in Chicago, Downers Grove, Rockford, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, MO, Omaha, Des Moines, Sioux City, IA, Minneapolis and Milwaukee. His oversight includes $300M in annual revenue while supporting his Regional and Local teams to ensure steadfast success.

Luke is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, and went on to earn his Masters in HR with a business emphasis from Ottawa University. He is active in several industry organizations including ASIS International in which he has served multiple leadership positions, to include the 2017 Chairman for the St. Louis Chapter and currently serves as 2nd Vice-President of Illinois Security Professionals Association. Luke is a Board-Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with ASIS, and through the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) he is a Board Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Michael Potter, CPP
Past President

Michael Potter has over 25 years of experience in the security industry and currently serves as Vice President of Operations, Technology Solutions for DSI Security Services. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Benedictine University.

Michael has extensive experience conducting security system assessments and integrating advanced intelligent security solutions into security operations to enhance organizational resilience, mitigate risk and enhance overall security.

Michael is currently the Past President of the Illinois Security Professionals Association® (ISPA) and is a member of its Executive Committee.

Michael is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through ASIS International. Michael’s leadership and industry expertise are evident through his significant contributions to ASIS International. He has served on the Healthcare Security Council, the Critical Infrastructure Working Group, and the ASIS Strategic Planning Committee. He has also been a featured speaker for ASIS Healthcare Council Seminars and held the position of Vice Chair of the ASIS International Illinois North Shore Chapter.

Michael represented the private sector as a member of the Board of Directors for the Lake-Cook Regional Critical Incident Partnership (LCRCIP).

Additionally, he is certified in Critical Incident Command Post operations and holds FEMA Emergency Management Institute certifications in Incident Command Systems and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Dennis Gano
Executive Director/CEO

Dennis Gano has been involved in association management for more than thirty years. As Executive Director/CEO for the Illinois Security Professionals Association, he is both responsible and accountable for the administration and management of ISPA. The position is appointed by and directly responsible to the Board of Directors. He manages the day-to-day functions of the association, within his fiduciary responsibilities he prepares and proposes annual budgets and monitors all association financial assets and assists with strategy and execution of the organizations vision and mission. In his free time, Dennis enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren. Dennis received the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives in 2003, and is one of approximately 4,000 association executives world-wide to hold this credential. He was alloso recognized by the National Association of REALTORS with the REALTOR® with their REALTOR Certified Executive designation in 2003.

Andrew Bartol
Director

Andrew Bartol launched his security career in 2017 as a Security Officer at a Class A commercial property and quickly advanced through progressive leadership roles, including Shift Supervisor, Site Supervisor, Director of Security, and Operations Manager. He currently serves as General Manager, overseeing a multi-million-dollar security portfolio across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Andrew’s experience spans high-end retail, commercial and residential properties, sporting events, manufacturing facilities, healthcare environments, off-duty police details, and premium accounts supporting a wide range of client personnel and operational needs.

An active contributor to the security profession, Andrew serves as a Director with the Illinois Security Professionals Association (ISPA), Vice Chairman of ASIS Chicago, and is a member of the BOMA Emergency Preparedness Committee and BOMA Diversity Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and an MBA with honors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Brian Benton
Director

Since 2021, Brian Benton has served as the Chief of Police for the Village of Mokena,
Illinois. Mokena has a population of just over 20,000 and is located approximately 20
miles southwest of Chicago. The Mokena Police Department has an authorized staff of
35 sworn officers. For the past three years, Chief Benton assisted in managing the design
and construction of the brand new, state-of-the-art police station complete with a firing
range, defensive tactics room, virtual reality simulation training room and physical fitness
center.

Chief Benton previously served on the Joliet Police Department for over 28 years, retiring
after 5 years as Chief of Police in 2018. The City of Joliet is the third largest city in the
State of Illinois with a diverse population of just over 150 thousand residents. The Joliet
Police Department has an authorized staff of over 280 sworn police officers and an
additional 65 civilians whose duties include staffing an independent public safety dispatch
center.

Chief Benton served in many positions throughout his career including uniformed patrol,
plainclothes tactical and in an undercover capacity with a multi-jurisdictional narcotics
task force. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2000 where he led the department’s narcotics
unit. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2006 where he served as Watch Commander in
the Operations Division. In 2008, Chief Benton was promoted to Division Commander
and served in the Administration Division overseeing the department’s budget
management and policy compliance. In 2011, he transferred to the Investigations Division
where he served as Division Commander overseeing several high-profile investigations
until his appointment to Police Chief in 2013.

Chief Benton served for 20 years on the department’s Special Operations Squad (SWAT)
eventually as the team’s Commander. He also served as an Active Shooter Instructor,
Firearms Instructor and as the department’s Range Master.

Chief Benton earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal/Social Justice with highest
honors in 1998 and his Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration in 2009 both from
Lewis University. He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety
School of Police Staff and Command (2003) and the Police Executive Research Forum’s
Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP-Boston University – 2006). Chief Benton is
also a certified Police Chief through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (2017) and
has received the Illinois State Crime Commission’s “Award of Excellence in Law
Enforcement” in 2016.

Paris Burts
Director

Paris Burts is a seasoned security professional with a strong background in operations, particularly within Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and communications. He began his career as an officer, where he developed a solid foundation in theft investigations and perimeter security.

Throughout his career, Paris has grown in his field, gaining experience and taking on greater responsibilities. He eventually took on a leadership role at a Security Operations Center in Downtown Chicago, where he managed communication protocols, oversaw CCTV systems, coordinated alarm monitoring and response, and helped organize mobile patrol and field service operations.

In his current role as a District Manager, Paris focuses on providing effective leadership and ensuring that security services are delivered smoothly and efficiently. He works to align team operations with the needs of both clients and the company, while also helping manage transitions for new clients.

Recently, Paris has taken on a director role at ISPA, his security organization, where he continues to assist with the promotion of the Security sector.

Outside of his work, Paris is passionate about promoting security awareness and responsible practices. He views his role as a security professional as a responsibility to help protect people and property, and he strives to pass on this sense of purpose to others.

Paris’s commitment to his community and his work reflects his belief in the importance of service and continuous improvement in the security field.

Sean Keating
Director

Sean embarked on his security career 23 years ago, steadily advancing through various roles, beginning as a Security Officer. Today, he leads as Securitas’ Area Vice President for the Chicago market, overseeing the successful delivery of high-quality security solutions.

With a 19-year tenure at Securitas, Sean consistently delivers exceptional client service. His success is driven by a focus on key areas: cultivating strong client relationships, developing high-performing teams, ensuring operational excellence, and driving business growth.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Sean is actively involved in the security industry and the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Security Professionals Association, contributing his expertise to the advancement of the security profession and helping to shape the future of the industry. He also serves as an Internship Mentor for the Western Illinois University Internship Program, guiding and supporting aspiring professionals in their career development.

Sean is driven by a passion for delivering meaningful and impactful solutions and results. He believes in an honest and proactive client-centric approach that prioritizes transparency.

Ernie Kuhnke, CIPM
Director

Ernie Kuhnke is a security professional with over 20 years of combined experience in the military, loss prevention, and the security industries. Ernie currently works with Cox Security Enterprises Inc, managing the Security Operations for their West Region.

Ernie is a proud Navy Veteran, completing two deployments. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University at Illinois in Chicago and a Master of Applied Science in Security Management from the University of Denver.

Daniel S. McDevitt
Director

Daniel S. McDevitt completed a thirty-six year law enforcement career, which began with his appointment as a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). He then served for 24 years with the Illinois State Police (ISP), retiring as a Captain, and subsequently served for ten years as Chief of Police in two Chicago suburbs, Homewood and Lansing, IL.

McDevitt has a Master of Science degree in Criminology, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI Executive Development Program, and has taught at colleges, universities, and police academies in the United States and internationally for both civilian and military law enforcement personnel. He has authored three books: “Police Chief- Attaining and Succeeding in this Critical Position”, “Major Case Management- a Guide for the Law Enforcement Manager”, and “Managing the Investigative Unit,” and several law enforcement and management articles, and has served as a consultant for both governmental agencies and private corporations.

He is also retired as an Intelligence Officer with the U.S. Navy, where he held the rank of Lieutenant Commander after completing a twenty-year career which included both enlisted and commissioned service. As a Medical Corpsman he cared for Vietnam wounded personnel, and later as an Intelligence Officer, he specialized in foreign counterintelligence, physical security, and analysis of terrorist operations. He was recalled to active duty twice for the Gulf War, where he conducted counter surveillance operations, threat assessments, sensitive investigations, and protective services.

He has served as a consultant for the U.S. Department of State on several occasions, and has developed and presented courses internationally for the State Department’s Global Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program and for the Department of Defense Countertrafficking Executive Institute throughout Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. He has also planned and conducted several dignitary protection details for high-profile individuals.

He is a Senior Vice President of Consultation Services for P4 Security Solutions, LLC, a security management consulting and training firm. The firm provides a variety of public safety, security, and management services and training programs for corporate, business, and government clients worldwide.

Elena Mostovoy
Director

Elena Mostovoy is a Business Development Manager at Allied Universal, downtown Chicago. Allied Universal is a private $18 billion American security and staffing company, based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and Irvine, California. Allied Universal is the world’s largest provider of private security guards. It is also the third largest United States–based employer globally with 800,000 employees.

Allied Universal combines people and technology to deliver evolving, tailored solutions that allow our clients to focus on their core business. AUS was honored with The Outstanding Security Performance Awards at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2018. In 2017, Allied Universal was named ‘Best Large Employer’ by Forbes magazine.

Elena Mostovoy brings to her position over 20 years of Sales experience. She has worked in Business Development at several Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies within Healthcare and Manufacturing. Elena is the recipient of several professional awards, including six Presidents Club awards and two Vice- President’s Club Awards.

Elena earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Honors Marketing and Management from DePaul University, College of Business. Elena is a Past President of the Illinois Security Professionals Association and is currently serving as an ISPA Director. Elena is an active member of ASIS Chicago, ASIS International, Young Professionals & Emerging Leaders in Security (YPELS), BOMA Emergency Preparedness Committee and Chicago Real Estate Network (CREN). She currently resides in the Chicago Suburbs with her family. She has a daughter in 5th grade, a son in 8th grade and a Doberman on the couch.

John O’Malley
Director

John O’Malley is currently employed by William Blair, a global Investment Banking firm, as the Global Director of Safety and Security with a focus on workplace safety, crisis management, emergency response planning, global travel security risk, employee situational awareness training, executive protection, and overall physical security risk management.

He served 25 years with the United States Marshals Service retiring as a regional Chief Inspector in the Witness Security Division. In addition, he was the Chief Deputy United States Marshal in the Northern District of Illinois and held other senior management positions in the agency. He oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Marshals Service in Chicago and Rockford with the oversight of over 100 employees. In 2021-2022 He served the City of Chicago as the Deputy Mayor of Public Safety overseeing public safety agencies and working hand in hand with community organizations to ensure public safety in Chicago.

He received over 50 letters of commendation and three awards from the Department of Justice during his career and was involved in well over 500 felony arrests of violent wanted offenders.

He was an Adjunct Professor at the College of DuPage Homeland Security Training Institute teaching about the risks and liability involved with pre and post arrests scenarios and also was a guest instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) teaching federal, state and local officers about Protective Intelligence Investigations. He has been a presenter at numerous law enforcement training seminars for local, state and federal agencies. He has also sat on panels regarding corporate security and was the Chair of the Physical Security Working group for Chicago First. He belongs to a number of professional organizations such as ASIS, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, and is on the Board of Directors for ISPA (Illinois Security Professionals Association). He acted as a law enforcement analyst for WGN TV/Radio and WLS TV. He was a member of the Chicago Police Board, appointed by Mayor Emanuel in 2017 and re-appointed by Mayor Lori Lightfoot in 2019. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration.

David E. Pack
Director

David is Chairman Emeritus of Titan Security Group. Though retired from Titan, David continues to drive the same mission he did when he started Titan in 1992, by consulting and mentoring young security companies and professionals in the Chicagoland area.

David has a 40-year background in the development and implementation of security strategies and operations. He is a board member of the IDFPR Private Security Board and the Illinois Security Professionals Association Board. A member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and past member of the BOMA/Chicago Security Committee.

David is licensed by the State of Illinois as a Private Security Contractor, Private Detective Contractor, Private Alarm Contractor, and Locksmith.

Dinelia Smiles
Director

Educated at University of Illinois Chicago, Dinelia has experience as a Security Professional for several mega facilities with over 20 years of Physical Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Life Safety experience specializing in hospitality, transportation, commercial and facility security.

Developing, establishing and maintaining policies, standards, procedures, and initiatives for the protection of employees, clients, physical assets, proprietary information, and reputation. Responsibilities include consulting positions at multiple properties across the United States.

Dinelia is a certified OSHA compliance Outreach Instructor, a CPR, First Aid, and AED Instructor, a Tips instructor, member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Certified Lodging Security Supervisor (CLSS) through the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA), and the Vice President of the HEaT (Hospitality Entertainment and Tourism Association).

An Army veteran, Dinelia served in 3 tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

James Taff, CPP
Director

James Taff is a seasoned security executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience in the security and technology integration industry. He currently serves as Vice President of Sales for DSI Security, where he drives strategic growth and delivers client-focused security solutions.

Prior to joining DSI, Jim was Principal and owner of Apex3 Systems, a technology integration firm where he co-created Twin Xtion, an innovative platform leveraging digital twin technology to enhance security operations and operational efficiency.

Earlier in his career, Jim served as Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Premier Security and Apex3 Security, building both into the largest privately held security companies in the Chicago and Illinois markets.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is among an elite group of professionals who have earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS International. He is also licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) as both a Private Security Contractor and Private Detective.

Throughout his distinguished career, Jim has received numerous industry honors, including the BOMA Chicago Affiliate Member of the Year Award and the prestigious ISPA Lindbergh Bell Security Executive of the Year Award. He has demonstrated ongoing commitment to the profession through leadership roles such as Chairman of the Security Services Council of ASIS International and as a board member with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Valdamir Talley
Director

Chief Talley is a thirty-six-year veteran police professional. He began his career as a correctional deputy with Champaign County, later served with the Illinois Department of Conservation, and later with the Illinois State Police. Chief Talley concluded his law enforcement as the Chief of Maywood, Illinois and began consulting on security matters.  In January 2023, Chief Talley took a position with the Decatur Public Schools District 61 as their Department Head for security.

Anthony F. Varchetto
Director

Anthony F. Varchetto is the Co-Founder of Blue Star Security, LLC and President of Protos Security’s Specialized Off Duty Division. Anthony has over 22 years of high-level experience in law enforcement. In January of 2022, he retired from his role as Sergeant with the Chicago Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force to focus his efforts on continuing the growth of the business.

Over the course of his extensive law enforcement career – which included assignments to specialized units such as gang, tactical and narcotics as well as 15 years in the private sector – Anthony developed expertise in risk assessments, investigations and supply chain security. Anthony possesses security licenses and certifications throughout the United States and holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph.

In January of 2024, Anthony was promoted to President of Protos’s new Specialized Off Duty Division, where he leads thousands of active and retired law enforcement professionals in Illinois, New York, California, Texas, Canada and the United Kingdom.

As President of Protos’s Specialized Off Duty Division, Anthony focuses on sales and marketing, managing key accounts and designing customized, targeted off duty services to meet customer needs. He believes in building trusted client relationships and communicates regularly with all clients to ensure that they’re consistently receiving the finest security services in the industry.

Anthony is a founding member of Bank the Blue, a nonprofit organization that provides mental health resources to law enforcement professionals throughout the Chicagoland area. He also serves on the board of directors for the Illinois Security Professionals Association.

Ronald T. Vasser
Director

Ronald Vasser currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Security Professionals Association as a Director. He is a former CBS-TV Chicago Emmy Award winning Television Producer & Director with over 43 years of major market broadcasting experience. Over the years he has produced and directed News, Sports, Entertainment programs and commercials. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the National Association of Black Journalist and a past board member of the CBS Minority Employees Association.

He was also an instructor at Columbia College in Chicago for over 15 years. Vasser also spent five years working as a respiratory therapist and a member of the Cardiac Arrest team at some of Chicago’s major hospitals. He also worked in his family owned private investigation and security agency and served with the Illinois National Guard in an Infantry Unit and a Military Police Unit.

He  is a retired Captain and officer in charge of the Mounted Operations Division of the Melrose Park Dept. of Public Safety, which serves Melrose Park, Cook County and the State of Illinois. He is certified in ground and mounted search & rescue operations and was also honored with the department’s “2008 Officer of the Year Award” and the “2009 Member of the Year Awards.

Vasser is Director of Special Operations at Vanguard Security Solutions, PLLC and a former Vice President of Special Security & Investigations with A.L.E. Security  Professional Inc..

Brian Webber
Director

Brian Webber is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in the security industry. As the Region President at Allied Universal, Brian oversees all field operations, growth initiatives, client retention, and P&L management for the $1.8 billion Midwest Region.  Brian also serves as the President of the Allied Universal Workforce Solutions Division providing tailored staffing solutions outside the security space. Brian’s expertise in business development, mergers & acquisitions, business analytics, team building and technology-driven customer value programs has been instrumental in the success of the region.

Allied Universal acquired Apollo International, Inc in 2016 where Brian served as the Chief Operating Officer of the $100M Northeast based security services firm.

Brian began his career at First Security Services Corp., progressing from overnight Security Officer through the ranks. His extensive experience in the security industry is complemented by his academic achievements, including a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, where he graduated Cum Laude.

Brian is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Industrial Security International (ASIS), the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS), and the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA). He also serves on the boards of the Illinois Security Professionals Association (ISPA) and the RB Foundation.

Steve Castans
Consultant

Completing a thirty-year law enforcement career, which began with his appointment as a Police Officer with The Cook County Forest Preserve Police. Steve served 27 years with Cook County Forest Preserve Police. During his career, he obtained the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and North Area Commander responsible for all patrol functions for the northern half of Cook County. In 1981, he was promoted to Chief of Police and served as Chief for 20 years, leaving the county to accept the position of Chief Investigator for the Illinois Secretary of State, holding that position until retirement.

Upon retirement from Law Enforcement Steve joined The Security Management and Investigation Company, a primer Chicago security company. There he served as Vice President/principal overseeing all high-rise commercial accounts and BOMA accounts for the Chicago Downtown business district and the suburbs. In 2010 SMI, was purchased by Securitas . At Securitas, Steve managed several books of business until taking over as Director of the Mobile Patrol. His last assignment for Securitas was Director of Security for NBC Towers and the American Medical Association. Steve is currently the Inspector General for the P4 Security Solutions Company where he conducts investigations and consulting.

Steve is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI Executive Development Program. He has also graduated from The Northwestern Traffic Institute, and The Southern Police Institute from the University of Kentucky. Between Law Enforcement and Security Steve has 50 years of experience.

Jeff Dalton is an experienced Law Enforcement professional with 20yrs of experience.  Jeff has been in the security / life safety field since 2004.  During this time Jeff has held numerous positions, from Security officer, to account manager, to Security Director, Director of Operations and Branch Manager.  Currently Jeff is the Director of Operations for ISM Security in Highland Indiana.   Jeff holds a certificate from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training board as a certified police officer, is a certified firearms instructor, CPR/First Aid/AED instructor.  Jeff is a member of ASIS International and the Senior Pastor for Central Baptist Church, Olympia Fields Illinois.
